Business Intelligence Analyst

Business Intelligence, (BI), Analyst plays a critical role in providing retail transactional analysis on sales, inventory management and efficiency metrics. The BI Analyst works closely with the senior leadership team to synthesize large volumes of data using a variety of programming tools.

This role supports The Mobile Shop™ (a fully-owned division of Loblaw Inc). The Mobile Shop is located in over 200 Loblaw and Loblaw-affiliated stores across Canada. As one of the largest multi-carrier retailers, The Mobile Shop offers customers a wide selection of wireless providers in a convenient and customer-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support building and maintaining company-wide reports, dashboards and scorecards using BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI and SQL that enable teams to make evidence-based decision-making and show company performance
  • Assist with updating and migrating daily Sales POS transaction reports to PowerBI.
  • Support business units working directly with all levels including senior staff to advise and provide solutions relating to data reporting and intelligence.
  • Collaborate with teams to provide recommendations and options on establishing measures. With focus on both efficiency (automation), accuracy and efficacy.
  • Provide ad-hoc data needs using SQL and ability to extract data from RQ for ad-hoc analysis and data requirements.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and data modelling to identify patterns and trends in complex data sets and simulate changes in performance metrics to assess ROIs for projects and financial impacts
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders providing them with regular updates on programs and new solutions.
  • Data normalization, ETL and building data structures.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or other Analytics related fields and/or a combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years experience conducting analysis of large amount of data.
  • High proficiency in SQL, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI, Python and R.
  • Statistical modeling or machine-learning techniques, including data visualizations and presentation is an asset.
